Link With Project Scotland Severed!
As a result of new policies in ProjectScotland, we are no longer able to receive funding for Xtend and Step Out+. It's a shame that this link up has come to an end, but they are unable to fund organisations who will only recruit from one faith community. We were reluctant to open up the projects to those from other faith backgrounds or none as this would have fundamentally changed the nature of these projects.
As a result, three young people who were lined up to volunteer in Selkirk for the year ahead (and carry on the great work of last year's team) have been affected. At the BUS we have been able to find funding for them for the next three months as a stop-gap. Pray that the church will be able to find alternative sources for the rest of the year.
We are not sure what will happen to Step Out+ next summer, but we have more time to sort out alternative funding between now and then.
