More Sports Day Results

We've now got the athletics and swimming results sorted.
Again some great competition going on in these events and especially good to see som many 11 and under competitors at Sports day this year.

Another Great BUSY Sports Day

For those of you who made the trip to Stirling University for the BUSY 2008 Sports Day, I hope you aren't suffering too much with sunburn etc. It was a glorious day with hardly a cloud in the sky and the cafe virtually ran out of ice-cream by the end of it.

We had 26 churches registered with 700+ attending on the day, which is up on last year.
The overall winners were Kirkintilloch Baptist, with Stirling Baptist coming in as runners-up and Bearsden Baptist winning the 4x400m relay race.

As part of the awards ceremony, we had Al Johnson, Scotland's No. 1 football freestyler along to demonstrate his skills and share a bit of his faith journey. He was terrific and even though some had been sitting for about an hour waiting for the ceremony to start (partly because the football finals were so competitive), they still entered right into it.

On the day we only have time to announce winners in most events, with the occasional runner-up. however, many people put in fantasitic efforts and so we have managed to collate results and will over the course of the week ahead, at least put up the first, second and third placed competitors in all the events.

So for starters, here's the list of winners in each event (what we read out in the awards ceremony) and the Sports Day Top 10 churches (perhaps your's is one of them).

More Funding For Step Out+

Another church has given a gift of £500 to help with the Step Out+ programme. This is terrific and gives us a grand total of £2000 given by churches, equivalent to two places.

We now have seven signed up for a whole summer of Step Out and it's starting to come together very nicely.

Details to Step Out+ teamers, Step Out teamers and partner churches should be sent out in the next couple of weeks as we start to finalise details.

Roadside Rescue

At long last we've put up the User Manual and extra files from last years holiday club for children, Roadside Rescue. It's tried and tested in more than twelve venues and works brilliantly. Go to the resources page for more information.

More Good News For Step Out+

Another church has just added £500 to the Step Out+ kitty, which equates to half a place. This is encouraging as we have at least 6 people interested in SO+ for the summer ahead and we have the funding in place for that.

However, we are still looking for more team members for individual weeks of the summer so that we can support 20+ churches. It's not too late to apply.

Step Out+

One church has very kindly donated £1000 to the Step Out+ fund which will allow us to increase the number of places available on the SO+ scheme by one.

This takes us to a grand total of six places available, just two short of our target of eigth places for Step Out+.

Sports Day 2008

This years Sports day takes place on Saturday 31st May at Stirling University. The date has been moved to avoid a clash with Frenzy which takes place on the 7th June). Plans are well underway already for a terrific day. Registration on the day will open by 11am and the awards ceremony should finish no later than 6pm.

The forms have been posted, but it you can't wait or have misplaced it already, check out the ministry page where you can view or download this year's registration form and a helpful new notes booklet to help you fill it in correctly.

Step Out Booklets

We've just added a couple of extra bits of information for those considering getting involved in Step Out.

Step Out for Dummies

This is an A-Z of almost anything you can think of that relates to being on a Step Out team based on team members experiences from the past.

The Idiot's Guide To Partnering With A Step Out Team

This gives churches a host of information about what is involved in working with a team during the summer (and the preparation beforehand as well as the follow-up afterwards).

Both of these booklets can be viewed or downloaded from the mission page.

Step Out 2008

Plans are well under way for Step Out this summer.

We are aiming for at least 20 teams going out over the school holiday weeks and will need lots of team members to make this possible.

We hope that if sixty people sign up for teams and we have at least six on the Step Out+ programme we should be able to partner with all the churches looking.

If you need more info for yourself or someone you know, please get in touch with us at the office and we can send stuff out to you. The application packs are available from the mission page.

Deep Impact 08

The website for this youth leaders training weekend is now up and running (see link under 'Training' in the right hand bar).

It's going to be a terrific weekend and if previous years are anything to go by, all attending will leave inspired for the mission and ministry that God has called them into. You may have missed the early bird rate, but at £120 (which includes accommodation in a MacDonald resort hotel; all food, which they don't skimp on; a packed programme and after hours entertainment) it's still amazing value.

Visit the Deep Impact website for more details and frequent updates.
